ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Christopher

WHERE I COME FROM
I was born in Rochester, and I currently live in Oakland Township with my wife, Jessica, and our two younger children. Our oldest child resides in Rochester.
Our family’s connection to Oakland Township dates back to 1944 when my great-grandparents acquired property on Clarkston Road to establish a fruit farm. Over time, my grandparents took over the farm, which operated continuously for 40 years, and raised my dad here. My life has always revolved around Oakland Township, from pressing cider at Goodison Cider Mill to biking along the Paint Creek Trail and picking berries at Middleton’s. In 2019, my wife and I purchased the family property, renovating and expanding the family home while also re-establishing a small garden, orchard, and vineyard.
A THRIVING CAREER
As a Registered Architect with over 25 years of experience, I have worked across various areas of architectural practice. My portfolio includes diverse project types, ranging from air transportation and healthcare to education, water treatment, and retail. However, my true passion lies in residential architecture, driven by a profound love for the concept of ‘home’ and the understanding that homes and communities serve as life’s backdrop. Throughout my career, I have enriched the lives of clients through hundreds of custom homes, home additions, and renovations.
I possess expertise in business, project, and financial management, as well as in higher education instruction, accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, bidding, marketing, architectural design, and technical leadership. I take pride in being the owner and principal architect of Hornbeck Architects, a firm established in 1988 by my father, Lawrence C. Hornbeck.
Leaders of Oakland Township should be down-to-earth, approachable, relatable, and have a genuine connection with the residents they serve, mirroring the values and character of our community.
